2024 Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Sustainable Cities Awards
Keep Australia Beautiful NSW (KAB NSW) is thrilled to announce the finalists for the 2024 Sustainable Cities Awards. This year’s competition has seen an exceptional level of entries from a diverse range of organisations and individuals, all dedicated to creating a more sustainable future for metropolitan Sydney.
Since its inception in 1994, the Sustainable Cities Awards program has been instrumental in recognizing and rewarding the incredible efforts of metropolitan Sydney Councils, community groups, businesses, schools, and individuals who are leading the way in sustainable practices and initiatives.
“The quality of entries in this year’s competition has been outstanding, showcasing the innovative and impactful projects and actions being undertaken across Sydney,” said Val Southam, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Keep Australia Beautiful NSW. “I would like to congratulate all the finalists and entrants for their dedication to creating a more sustainable city for present and future generations.”
The Sustainable Cities Awards Program plays a vital role in celebrating and acknowledging the extraordinary contributions of all those who have entered this year’s awards. The program recognises the importance of sustainability in every aspect of city life and aims to inspire others to follow in the footsteps of these trailblazing individuals and organisations.
The winners of the 2024 Sustainable Cities Awards will be announced on Thursday 10 October at the Sustainable Cities Awards Luncheon, hosted by the 2023 Overall Award Winner, Penrith City Council, at the Log Cabin in Penrith.

EDITOR’S NOTE:
About the KABNSW Sustainable Cities Awards
Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Sustainable Cities Awards Program is a community and environmental awards program for metropolitan communities in NSW.
Since 1994, projects that not only enhance the environment but also improve the standard of living and well-being of urban communities have been a hallmark of the activities recognised by these awards.
The Sustainable Cities Awards inspire communities to make a genuine and lasting contribution to their area, with partnerships between local authorities, businesses, community groups, schools, and individuals.
About KAB NSW
Keep Australia Beautiful NSW (KABNSW) is the state’s premier organisation for litter reduction and environmental sustainability. Independent and not-for-profit, our focus is to engage communities to make NSW the least littered state in Australia, transforming littering behaviour to create a beautiful and more sustainable environment.
Over a 40-year history we have built a state-wide network of dedicated individuals, businesses, schools, community groups and government bodies striving to deliver a cleaner environment.
Through five core programs we work with communities across regional, metropolitan, and coastal NSW to educate and motivate environmental initiatives.
